German Shepherd Rescue of Central Texas strives to save German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes from neglect, abuse, and premature death. We give rescued dogs a chance to have the good life they deserve through rescue, adoption, referrals, and behavior counseling. We do not sell dogs. We adopt intelligent, sensitive beings into homes where their personalities and potential will be valued.
German Shepherd Rescue of Central Texas is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. Equipment and supplies are purchased using the personal funds of our volunteers, or are donated or purchased using contributions and adoption fees. If you would like to contribute, please read about how you can help.
The following dogs are adoptable. For more photos, click on each dog's picture.

Myra - Adult Female
Myra has lived in the home she was adopted for the past year. Recently her owner was diagnosed with terminal cancer
and is too ill to care for her. This is devastating news both for Myra and her owner. Myra is now back with our rescue
group and seeking her forever home. Myra is around 4 yrs old, house trained, and crate trained . Myra has amazing ball
drive. She will flip a tennis ball into the air and catch it. Myra loves to play fetch and will bring the ball back to you. She
will even drop it at your feet so you can throw it again. She is spayed, current on her vaccinations, and would make a
wonderful companion for the lucky person or persons who adopt her.
Samba - Young Male
Samba is a adorable German Shepherd Mix. He is about a year old and came to us along with his sister, Cha-Cha. Samba
gets along great with other dogs and is having fun playing with the other dogs in his foster home. Samba as a great
potential as agility dog. He dances on top of dog houses. He is house trained, crate trained and a lively fun companion who
would thrive on attention and training.
Panzer - Adult Male
Panzer was returned to our group after an adoption that didn't work out. He is over a year old now. He is a beautiful
boy, but something happened in his adopted home and he now doesn't trust anyone but his foster mom. The dog we
adopted out was outgoing and friendly with everyone. At this point he would be a project for anyone interested in him.
Meanwhile, his foster mom will continue to work on socializing him with new people.
German Shepherd Rescue Central Texas is very grateful for donations received in memory or in honor of beloved people and pets.

Thelma (left) & Louise (right) - Young Female
Thelma and Louise are around a year old. Current on all shots, heartworm prevention and are housetrained. Both girls
are very well behaved in the house and have no destructive behaviors. They are polite girls and will come and sit quietly
waiting for a petting. Louise is the smaller girl and the dominate one. Thelma is a bit shy and will stand back from
people until she knows they are friendly and nice. Once Thelma gets loving and knows you are going to be kind to her
she is devoted, obedient and loving, but not intrusive. They get along fine with other dogs, but if another dog starts
something with one and they are together they will have to deal with both girls. Thelma and Louise are both good with
cats. They can certainly be adopted separately or together.

Geeta - Baby Female
Geeta is one of Calypso's puppies. She is pictured here in her new foster home living the good life.
Geeta has settled into her foster home and has been busy working on her house manners. She is
a very smart girl and has already learned the commands "sit" and "down."
Maya - Female Young
Maya is just about 2 years old. She is up to date on all her vaccines and spayed. She is very sweet,
ignored cats at her previous home and was very gentle and good with kids. She is ok with other dogs
and lived with 3 other females in her previous home. Her previous person said she is house trained and
crate trained, rarely barks and is a loving smart and full of life gorgeous lady.
Banjo - Young Male
Banjo is thought to be around 1 1/2 - 2 years old. He is very sweet, loving and gentle.
The people who found Banjo said he is ok with cats, other dogs, and kids. He has
adjusted well in his foster home and gets along great with the other dogs. His foster
mom reports that he is very cooperative and wants to please.
Paris Hilton - Young Female
Paris Hilton is the new girl on the block. She is heart worm positive, so she will be treated
before going to her new home. Paris is around two years old and has a wonderful
personality. She is a beautiful girl who was used for breeding before she came to the
animal shelter. More on Paris as we get to know her in her new foster home.
Serena - Young Female
Serena is a very pretty girl who is around one and a half years old. She is very sweet and
adjusting to life in her new foster home. Serena is crate trained and up to date on all of
her vaccinations. She is current on heart worm prevention and spayed.

Calypso aka Calli
Meet Calypso aka Calli. She was covered in ticks and malnourished, in fact emaciated. She was
dumped and barely surviving with her puppies in a junk yard with 30-40 feral dogs. She has had a very
rough life and seems so grateful and appreciative of any kindness and comfort she gets. She was
heartworm positive but has gained weight and completed her treatment. When she went to her foster
home she didn't know how to walk on a leash and was very insecure coming inside and walking on
floors. Clearly she had not done that before. She now loves coming in the house and enjoys the comfort
of her crate with a fluffy quilt to lay on. She takes treats very gently and wants to please. She lays on a
dog bed and acts like she is afraid to do anything that might get her in trouble. At first she was showing
her teeth to dogs who approached her and seemed defensive, but is getting more relaxed every day and
now just looks at the other dogs showing no sign of aggression to them. I think she has great potential
to be rehabed into a wonderful companion. You can see the joy in her in just having a safe comfortable
place to lie down. She is spayed, it turns out she was pregnate again, but that is fixed. She is now
current on shots and microchipped. It will be a while before she is well enough to be adopted, needs
that HW treatment. That will give time to build up her confidence and get her use to living the good life.
Cadet - Young female (Left) & General - Adult Male (Right)
Cadet is a sweet, pretty, petite GS, about 2 years old, & 65lbs. She came with her
friend General. They would love to be adopted together. However, he is very
dominant over her, so she might do better on her own. Cadet is very sweet &
submissive, but seems to have not had any training. She is learning basic doggie
manners, & that she does not jump on you to get your attention. With a little work,
she will be a gem of a girl! Cadet is learning to walk nicely on a leash, & will be ready
for adoption after her heartworm treatment. Won't you consider giving this sweet girl
the wonderful home she deserves?
General came to us with his friend Cadet. Seems their > owner passed away, & his
parents could not care for > them. Both were living for a while in their backyard before
making it to rescue. He is big boy, around 90 lbs. General has a good disposition,
but is a dominant male. I would not advise someone without GSD experience to
adopt him. He will have to go through heartworm treatment before he is ready to go to
his new home. General walks fairly well on a leash, & is learning to sit, plus basic
doggie manners. Check back for more info as we get to know this big, sweet guy.
