Meet Sherman
Sherman is a Sable German Shepherd. He is young, strong and enthusiastic about his toys and is no couch potato at this age. Someone who wants to have adventures with him and find ways to expel his young energy, would be an ideal fit. After Sherman has had some exercise, he is very good at entertaining himself with his toys. He has one favorite toy so far - balls, balls, and more balls. He will spend a lot of time entertaining himself with them.
Sherman is intelligent but a little stubborn when it comes to training. We work on training every day in his foster home, but if he has a ball in his mouth, he’d rather play with it than take time to learn and get a treat.
He loves playing fetch, and will return the ball to you, but won’t drop it until he sees you have another ball ready to throw. This is a great way to expend Sherman’s energy if you have a yard he can run in. But beware because Sherman will go after the ball in your hand if you wait too long to throw it. Advice - - only use a launcher which he will still go after, but it won’t hurt your hand. Sherman plays hard. He is not mean but if your arm gets in the way of him getting his ball, well too bad. For this reason, we do not recommend him to be in a household with small children.
Sherman has a sweet side too. He loves it when you fuss over him and scratch his chest. He will lay down close to us while we are working on the computer and just lay there and keep us company. In some ways, he’s very calm for his age, but when he goes to the backyard in anticipation of a good round of fetch, he’s all in.
