2011 Forever home updates

Zeke

Picture
As you can see, Zeke has outgrown his "large size" bed already.  This is how he likes to sleep - on his back with legs in the air.  He is so cute.  Getting so big though (around 70 lbs at his last checkup  a month ago already), but still quite gentle, playful and very smart.  He still has a little apprehension with new male aquaintances but is getting better.  Very good with other animals - goats, horses, llamas, deer and other dogs and cats.  But hates squirrels!  He also tried to make friends with a skunk which didn't work out well at all but we finally got the smell out of the house of him.

Hilda, Hildegard Annabelle Bush (Anni)

Picture
Things are going great over here! She's sorting out what's toys and what's not. No accidents in the house yet, and she actually was really good about her crate last night. She whined each time we put her in, but only for about 30 seconds each time, then she'd settle down. I'm pretty sure we now have completely unrealistic expectations about what an easy puppy she's going to be. ... before we've even had her home for 24 hours. :) Having a great time and love her to death already! But man, being a puppy is TIRING business! Runrunrunrunsleeeeep.  Thanks so much to everyone for making this happen! I think we're all going to be very, very happy together.

Stanley

Picture
I wanted to let you know that Stanley has adjusted beautifully!  Our bond is growing each day and he and Nikita are best buddies.  It has been a fairly seamless transition.  Stanley is going to the vet on Thursday to have his fractured tooth removed and to have his hernia repaired.  Please keep little Stanley in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks again for letting him come to live with us.  He is an absolute joy!  His favorite thing to do (aside from eat J) is to curl up with me and watch TV.

Bosco

Picture
Bosco is a blessing , this was his first dsy at the Comal river! He was the show of the day! The most well behaved dog, he was enjoying the day. :)

Mika (Joan Jett)

Picture
My dog ( mika-pronounced meeka) is doing great. She is a loving well behaved sweet baby. I love her so much, she has adjusted well. She very rarely pee's indoors anymore. She goes most places with me and loves to ride in the car. My son has a british black lab which she plays with often and they enjoy each other, chap is teaching her how to be a confident dog. Thank you so much for letting me adopt her. Have a Great Christmas.

Moses (Captain) & Baxter

Picture
Merry Christmas to all. Thank you for letting us have two wonderful pups this last year, and thank you for all the great work to do to find homes for these wonderful dogs! Moses and Baxter are doing great. Moses is now 1 year old, and Baxter is just over 4 months. Haven’t weighed Moseslately, but Baxter is now up to 61 pounds, up from 39 pounds when we got him, and growing like a weed. The dog food section of Wal-Mart loves to see us coming! The two get along like long lost brothers.
We’ve ordered a calendar and were pleasantly surprised to find Captain (AKA Moses) as a calendar pup! Ya’ll have a well-run operation and it was a pleasure to do business with you.

Stella (China Girl)

Picture
Here she is in the car pool line, waiting for the latest load of kids wet from the swimming pool lessons.  Stella has hot purple toenails fresh from the "beauty shop". I kinda think of it as her fault; she coulda ran away from the 8 year olds at any point but decided to stick around the kitchen just incase anything delicious fell from their tea party table. Stella's always up for a party!

Bunny

Picture
Just an update on our sweet Bunny! We are happy to report that she is doing well and has adjusted well her new home with us. Bunny has been enjoying running with me at Townlake, making new friends at Redbud park, and learning how to swim. We love Bunny and are constantly amazed at how sweet and well behaved she is. It baffles me on how someone could have given her up because we can not imagine our life without her! Bunny has stolen our hearts and we may be guilty of spoiling her a bit. Our first week we bought her a really nice doggie bed which has been abandoned for our bed, which we do not mind.

Thank you to the German Shepherd Rescue of Central Texas for finding and taking care of this amazing pet until we took her to her forever home. Your hard work changes not only the lives of the adopted pets but the owners that adopt them. When my husband and I move to a home with more space and the time is right to bring another pet to our lives I can guarantee we will go through the German Shepherd Rescue of Central Texas again!

Maverick (Teddy)

Picture
Teddy is now called Maverick and is doing great in his new home.  His family sent in a new photo.

Kiya (Koko)

Picture
Hi, my name is Kiya (formerly Koko), and I was adopted by a fantastic family. We have a great big yard I play in and explore with my sister Sadie. I love to play with my family outside too. They throw toys and I run as fast as I can to catch them. Sometimes, I get in a little trouble outside because I dig. When it rains, I found out I can have a lot of fun making a mess of the yard and of myself. My mom doesn’t think I should be digging but isn’t that what dogs do?? Anyway, every now and then I take a dip into the pool to cool my paws off, but as a pretty girl I don’t go all the way in because I am afraid to get my hair all wet.

My mom takes me to training for obedience. I’m not sure exactly what that obedience stuff is all about but I act like I am having fun because I get GREAT
snacks if I cooperate! Although, I spit out the hot dogs last time because I didn’t like them. I get to sleep on a great bed and sometimes my mom and dad let me snuggle with them on their bed. My sister and I compete sometimes for the bed and my dad and mom have to put us in time out! Bummer.
The youngest human in our house is a blast to play with. He and I run all over the yard together and play inside too. Sometimes he laughs so hard while playing with me, he falls down and I get to lick his face all over. I love my human boy.

As far as I am concerned, I have the best house and family in the world. I sure am a happy and well fed dog.
