Parker found the loving home that he deserves!
An update from his new family: We were thinking of you this morning when
Parker looked all sad. We think he was worried about his old buddies at Central
Texas GSD Rescue. We told him everything would be fine and he did a few
tricks (for treats, of course) and he was fine.
It has been a little over 6 months now since P came to live with us and it was
rocky at first. The ice storms, the newness and not knowing if this would be his
forever home or just another stop. But it all worked out fine and he’s become
such an amazing part of our lives. He is my walking buddy, my yard work buddy,
my cooking buddy and my napping buddy. He is very protective of me and is
always at my side every where I go.
He loves playing in the backyard with us and going to visit his grandparents on
Galveston Island where he can’t act crazy and enjoy the ocean surf. He has
also been working really hard on making kitty like him but she does have her
issues. He hasn’t given up yet and every now and then she shows she really
does care.
I think his shining moment was his graduation from Dog Manners class where
he was the star of the group. He led our team to victory and won several of the
challenges they presented.
Overall, Parker (P) is the best thing I could have ever done, he’s my best friend
and I think it was perfect timing when we came along and met each other. I
have attached two pictures, one of me after a long day of play in my new pool
and one of me graduating from Dog Manners. Take care of yourself and all of
his old buddies.
Ben (the black and tan puppy) has been adopted.
Olivia has found the wonderful home that she deserves.
Andy was in rescue for quite a long time before finding the wonderful home
that he deserves.
Billy is a wonderful dog who found the great home that he deserves. Update: from his new home:
This guy is a great Dog. He has come completely out of his shell and has become a great member
of the family. He has a crush on "Diva" the Mastiff down the street. We are walking everyday and
he is getting better with people, still barks and still gets a bit shy around new people, but is
improving. We go to the fenced in school lot and he runs like a fool, always leading with his head.
He and my roomies dog Dylan play all the time and have started sleeping together on my bed
when I am at work. Thank you so much for a great dog
Sugar has found her forever home with her foster mom.
Keely - This beautiful lab mix found her forever home!
Piper has found her new home!!
Abby wasn't in her new foster home long before her new family found her.
Her new family reports that Abby is doing great. No accidents, no issues just wonderful dog
who is happy with everyone and everything. She goes right out and does her business and
back in the house where she is beautifully behaved. Those who didn't get to meet Abby you
missed a really good dog.
Bell has been adopted.
Duke has found his forever home.
Paco came to his foster family as a little puppy and
now he is all grown up. Turns out he stuck around
because this was where he was meant to be! He and
his foster families dog, Lizzie (adopted from GSD
rescue in 2005), are best friends. They chase
squirrels and birds in the yard during the day and curl
up next to each other on their dog beds at night.
These two are inseparable. Paco also shares his
home with other foster dogs, cats, and even
chinchillas! He's the perfect fit for their home.
Freedom and Lincoln have found their forever home.
These lucky dogs went to the same home!
Pearl and Zena have found their forever home together!
Bijou has been adotped. Here is an update from her new home:
Just a quick note to let you know that Bijou is doing great! She seems to be getting
more comfortable with each day and LOVES to play not only with her tennis balls, but
also her other toys! She is also a lovebug and I smooch on her every chance I get! She
was left alone for almost the whole day yesterday and she did fine. She rides with
Dean every morning to take Greyson to daycare and he said she seems to really enjoy
it. When I get in bed at night, she comes over several times and rests her head on the
edge of the bed for some scratches and rubs. This afternoon I took a nap and she got
up in the bed with me and snuggled right up next to me with her muzzle snuggled under
my chin. I realize not the best habit to start, but who can resist that! :-) She sleeps in
our bedroom through the night and noses me in the morning (if I'm not already up) when
she is ready to go potty and eat. She is an absolute love and is doing wonderfully! Just
wanted to give you an update... Hope you're doing well! And I hope the puppies are
doing well too!

Myra - After three long years in our rescue group Myra has found her forever home!
We couldn't be happier for this sweet girl and her new family.
We made it home to Cypress safe and sound on Sunday. We took a family vote
and everyone decided to go ahead with the name Bella instead of Stella. She
did okay in the car on the way home and she seems to fit right in with the
family. The kids love her but she seems to like to hang around me the most
so far. I think she's probably still a little nervous about the whole move.
Thank you so much for working with us to bring home this
beautiful little dog. She is such a good girl and I think we are all going
to really enjoy having her as part of our family!

Buster and Bear *(formerly Andre) have been adopted
together. Their new mom sent updated pictures of these
two.
Samus (formerly Izzy) has found a new home! Here is a new update from her new home:
Samus is doing great! We've taken a hiatus from obedience training for awhile to start up with agility, and
Samus loves it. She's very smart, and she seems to really enjoy combining her physical and mental exercise. If
we ever actually compete in agility (we might do it locally if she continues to enjoy it), we'll let you know so
maybe you can come see her and brag on how great a dog your adoptees turn out to be. :)
She's turned into a very healthy, beautiful 80 lbs GSD. She comes out places with me all the time (she's very
well behaved in public), and people compliment her a lot. Her coat is still black with a little grey.

Sophie - Update from her adopters: She is doing wonderful.
She has definitely come out of her shell. We take her for
walks all the time and she even took a trip to Petsmart with
us. She is very friendly with people. She has learned a
million tricks. She is so bright! She rings bells to go out, she
pushes the back door open to come back in, she wipes her
feet if it is raining outside, she sits, lays down, goes to her
room to sleep, and loves to cuddle.

Cash - Here is an update on Cash 1 yr later -
"I wanted to give you an update and apologize for not writing sooner. My big boy CASH (now 92 lbs) is now an ambassador for the
Greater Houston German Shepherd Dog Rescue. He has welcomed several foster dogs into our home along with his sister Carlee, who
was adopted around the same time as CASH in February 2007.
Cash is doing great and he has helped me through several new challenges, including a move to a new home with acreage. He does an
excellent job leading the pack around the "yard" and through the barn to the back acreage. He does get upset when one of the smaller
dogs gets through the doggie door first so you'll occasionally hear him talking about it. He is my scout as he hangs to the corners of the
room so he can see all the activity. He also protects me when I am on the riding mower working the property. Many a time you can find
him following the mower or sitting under the shade tree, until I get too far away and then he relocates for a better view.
Cash has done a great job in accepting the other foster dogs. He does let me know when he needs some alone time with me and I
make sure to give him lots and lots of love.
He has been a fantastic addition to my family and has helped me through the loss of my previous GSD. I look forward to many years
with CASH.
I just wanted to thank Dane for being that emergency foster for several months. Beverly you do a great job for Central Texas and I sure
do hope our new Houston based group can work with Central Texas to continue finding great permanent homes for these GSDs that
end up in shelters.
Here are a few updated photos of CASH and friends. Thanks again for allowing me this opportunity to bring CASH into my home

Greta Garbo has been adopted. An update from her new home: She is great! She is so attached
already. She is still eating very well and is learning to walk on a leash well. She got a little crazy when
she saw deer last night, but, corrected well after a little bit. We bought her some new toys and she
loves them. They squeak. I am still adjusting to having her follow me everywhere. She wants to be
with us constantly. Another update:I thought you might want to see how Greta is thriving. She has
stolen our hearts. She is training well and I can take her on a walk with her staying at heal. She is a
loyal companion and seems happy here. We are having a fence installed next week around the back
yard. I cannot imagine life without her.
